Ways to Get a Break as a Mom

As moms we need breaks, like a lot, we just don’t take them! There are options for us when dad is busy to get a break, that doesn’t involve a sitter all the time!

Join a gym - a friend of mine told me the other day she took her 3 kids to the gym, put them in childcare and had a workout - SOLO - uninterrupted. Moms we can definitely do this! A monthly gym membership with childcare is LESS than a babysitter would be for a few hours.

Communicate your needs - people don’t know how to help you or even that you need help if you don’t tell them! Tell people you need a break, that you need help - and let them help you!

Hire a babysitter - and don’t hire the babysitter so you can run errands. Hire the babysitter so you can go throw pottery for an hour or two alone, so you can meet a friend for coffee, so you can go participate in an intramural sport. Do something for you!

Spend some time at the end of the day to decompress and reset from the previous day. I actually love doing this multiple times a day. During transitions like between breakfast and lunch and lunch and quiet time and dinner and before bed. It’s not 20 mins each time. But 5 mins of reset and music really helps!!!

What are your favorite ways to get a break when your husband is busy?
