You Don’t Need Motivation to Be Motivated

For the last year I’ve completely lacked the motivation to workout, or do the morning routine that I did for years. I used to wake up at 5am; read my devotional, read about 10 mins of a personal development book, and then workout. It was my favorite part of the day and totally set me up for success.

That routine helped me feel accomplished and put together for the day ahead. I loved creating content, being creative, and working with women to help them live their best lives! It was a whole vibe that I just haven’t experienced in over a year. Why? Because I stopped doing my routine and I allowed myself to dwell in the ‘tired’ I have been experiencing.

I’ve learned that just because I don’t want to workout or do my devotional doesn’t mean I’m not motivated to do it. It means that I’ve gotten into bad habits of sitting on the couch, scrolling social media, making excuses, and allowing myself to accept less than what I’m capable of. It’s important to acknowledge that when you’re tired you need rest; but you are most likely not always tired (unless you are a mom to a newborn). You are probably allowing yourself to live bad habits that are piling on top of one another and not giving you energy to thrive.

Changing those habits will give you the energy you need to be the woman you want to be. We all have goals and an idea of what we want our lives to look like. It’s the work we put in that sets us apart from others. If we are constantly making excuses then we’ll constantly be stuck where we are.

Where can you find the strength to get up and do the work?

To workout. To clean up the house. To create content for people to enjoy. To help others. To go to church. To play with your kids. To bake something. To meal plan. To do what will make you feel good after you’ve accomplished it.

If you need extra help, visualize how you’ll feel once you’ve completed the task. Accomplished. Energized. The feeling of a clean home or the breathless feeling after a great workout! Put your energy and focus into the feeling after to get you up and motivated to do the work now!
