Overnight Oats
This simple breakfast or lunch option is great for anyone! When I stayed home with the kids for a period of time, I always tried to prep meals because it made meal times go faster! So this isn’t just for my fellow working mamas! Everyone can prep food to make life easier and simpler and give our brains a chance to rest knowing we have food prepared!
I always like to make sure I have a breakfast item that is easy to grab so I’m not fumbling in the morning making breakfast for everyone and myself. Which when not prepared, I usually don’t eat until 9am (after waking up at 6am) and then I’m hangry. I normally like to eat within a half hour of waking up! This helps jumpstart my metabolism!
I like to store my overnight oats in glass jars! Layering them and making them look pretty is also super fun!
To get started you want to mix up your base, and then pick your add-ins! Some of my favorite combinations are below!
Start with your base:
1/2 Cup Oats
1 Cup Milk of Choice
Then you can add in your add-ins!
1/2 cup berries
1 tsp. chocolate chips
1 tsp. maple syrup
1 tsp. honey
1/2 cup mango, pineapple, or other tropical fruit
1/2 cup apple
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. coconut flakes
1 tbsp. nut butter of choice
1/2 cup yogurt
1 tsp. chocolate powder
1/2 banana
Some of my favorite pairs:
berries & maple syrup
apple, cinnamon, maple syrup
pineapple, coconut flakes, honey
chocolate chips, nut butter, honey
chocolate powder can be mixed with yogurt and maple syrup and layered with bananas, chocolate chips, and peanut butter - YUM!
These simple recipes are great for a morning snack, or breakfast! You can prep them 3 days in advance and eat them throughout the week! I recommend putting the toppings on TOP of the jar instead of mixing them in if they are sitting in the fridge!
Let me know what your favorite combo is!
