Homemade Pizza

There are few things better than homemade pizza. I love a good homemade pizza and this recipe is SUPER simple and delicious. It’s really important that you’re making your pizza on a pizza stone. Check this one out.

Another really important thing - let the dough rise. It takes at least an hour and don’t try to get it before then. Yeast needs time to work! Okay, final tip… be care about the cheese you choose. Sometimes if you use fresh cheese (like I did the other day…) it will melt. Mozzarella cheese fresh is SO yummy but be prepared for really messy pizza you’ll have to eat with your fork. Still delicious just not like crispy bottom pizza because of the water content in the fresh mozzarella!

The higher the heat the better the pizza will do. So put your oven up to at least 475 but if it goes up to 500, put it at 500!

Ingredients:

  • 3 1/2 Cups Flour

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 2 1/4 tsps. Yeast

  • 1 Cup Room Temperature Water

  • 1/2 Cup Olive Oil

  • 1/4 Cup Hot Water (about 100 degrees)

  • Pizza Toppings of your Choice - I always do pepperoni and cheese on top of red sauce! I did make a white topped pizza the other day… that had ricotta, mozzarella and garlic. It was YUMMY!

Directions:

  • Mix yeast with 1/4 hot water.

  • Add flour and salt to a bowl and mix together.

  • Once the yeast has sat for about 5 minutes, add to flour mixture with the room temperature water and the olive oil. You can add more olive oil if needed!

  • Once combined, let sit in a bowl covered with a towel or plastic wrap in a warm place for about an hour.

  • Once the dough has risen, you want to take it out of the bowl and put it onto the pizza stone. You’ll need to stretch the dough so it fits the whole stone. You can make two pizzas out of this dough but it’s fun to make it into one BIG pizza. The kids always love that!

  • Once your pizza is shaped the way you’d like and to the thickness you like, you’ll want to add your toppings!

  • Then you’ll bake for about 10-15 minutes or until cooked thoroughly. The bake time will depend on what the temperature of your oven is!

  • Let sit for a minute or two until it has cooled enough to pick up! And Enjoy!!!
